Samsung is updating Samsung Health with a simpler way to begin Sleep Coaching, more tailored recommendations and new tools for runners. The update reduces the sleep data needed to create a coaching plan, adds a new Sleep Balance view and expands Running Coach from 10 to 12 training levels.

Sleep Coaching needs less data to start

Sleep Coaching previously required a full week of sleep data collected within a month. After the update, users can begin with three days of sleep data from the previous two weeks.

Setup also includes a survey covering sleep regularity, nighttime interruptions, alcohol and caffeine intake, and overall sleep satisfaction. Samsung Health combines those answers with recorded sleep information to assign a Sleep Animal and create a four- to eight-week coaching program.

The program adjusts its weekly recommendations as sleep patterns change. It also provides daily habit checklists and practical suggestions, such as avoiding screens for an hour before bed or avoiding caffeine late in the day.

New Sleep Balance view tracks five factors

A new pentagon-shaped Sleep Balance graph brings five sleep measures into a single view: sleep time, sleep regularity, awake time during the night, sleep satisfaction and Energy Score.

Samsung Health will also show morning insights about the previous night. Those observations connect with weekly updates and the final coaching report, giving users a way to follow changes throughout the program.

Sleep Coaching requires Samsung Health version 6.24 or newer on a Galaxy phone running Android 11 or later. Users also need a Galaxy Watch4 series or newer, Galaxy Fit3 or newer, or Galaxy Ring.

Running Coach adds higher training levels

Samsung is expanding Running Coach from 10 to 12 training tiers to better support intermediate and advanced runners. Plans continue to use either a 12-minute running test or the user's previous running data.

The update adds share-ready workout templates that can be exported for social media. Samsung is also integrating Strava Routes, allowing users to import favorite routes for running, trail running and cycling directly into Samsung Health.

Running Coach requires Samsung Health version 6.30.2 or newer, an Android 10 or later phone, a Samsung account and a Galaxy Watch8 series or newer watch.

Rollout and device compatibility

Samsung said the new features will begin rolling out gradually through Samsung Health app updates during the month. Availability and timing may differ by market and device model, so eligible users may not receive every feature at the same time.
