Apple has launched the claims website for a $250 million settlement involving its delayed personalized Siri features. Eligible U.S. iPhone owners can submit claims from September 21 through December 21, 2026, with payments expected to average $25 per device.

The final amount is not guaranteed. Depending on the number of valid claims and other settlement factors, the payment could be lower or higher than $25, up to a maximum of $95 per eligible device. Apple denies the allegations in the lawsuit and agreed to settle to avoid the expense and uncertainty of a trial.

Why Apple faced the Siri lawsuit

Apple previewed a more capable version of Siri in June 2024 as part of Apple Intelligence. The planned features included understanding a user’s personal context, recognizing content on the screen and taking actions across apps.

During its demonstrations, Apple showed Siri using information from apps such as Mail and Messages to answer questions about a family member’s flight and a lunch reservation. The company promoted the capabilities in product presentations, on its website and in a television commercial featuring actor Bella Ramsey.

Apple delayed the personalized Siri features in March 2025. A class action lawsuit then accused the company of false advertising. Apple pointed to other Apple Intelligence features that had already launched, saying the settlement would allow it to remain focused on developing its products and services.

Who can file a claim?

To qualify, a person must live in the United States and have bought an eligible iPhone in the country for a purpose other than resale between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025.

The eligible models are:

  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 16
  • iPhone 16e
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max

Some customers are expected to receive an email containing a claim ID and PIN. The settlement website also provides a way to file without those details. The form requests personal information and the eligible iPhone’s serial number. People who do not have the serial number can instead be asked for their Apple Account email address and the phone number associated with the device.

When payments could arrive

Claims can be filed through the official settlement website, smartphoneaisettlement.com, until December 21, 2026. Claimants should review the site’s instructions, including information about opting out and other settlement requirements.

A final approval hearing is scheduled for February 24, 2027. Payments are therefore not expected to begin until sometime next year, assuming the settlement receives final approval.

Apple announced the personalized Siri features at WWDC 2026 in June. The feature is available on iPhone 15 Pro models and newer devices running iOS 27, although Siri AI remains labeled as a beta feature.
