Apple is preparing to introduce a new smart home hub called HomeView, alongside an updated HomePod mini and a next-generation Apple TV 4K, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The products are expected to be unveiled at Apple’s “Welcome home” event in New York on Tuesday, October 13.

The report describes HomeView as Apple’s first dedicated home hub with a touch-enabled display. It is expected to combine smart home controls, selected Apple apps and Siri voice functionality in a tabletop or wall-mounted design. The HomePod mini 2 and new Apple TV 4K are reportedly scheduled to arrive sooner, on Friday, October 30.

Apple HomeView features and release timing

HomeView is expected to use Apple’s A18 chip, paired with 8GB of RAM. The device will support Apple’s AI-powered Siri features and will offer a selection of Apple apps, although it reportedly will not include an App Store for third-party applications.

Apple is said to be planning two physical versions. The tabletop model will feature a metal speaker base and is expected to provide better sound than the current HomePod mini. It will reportedly come in Gray, Silver, Starlight and Rose. The wall-mounted model will use a flat, square wall plate and will be offered in Gray and Silver.

Although Apple is expected to reveal HomeView on October 13, the report says the device may not become available until around mid-November.

Apple Home Collection accessories

HomeView will reportedly launch alongside an “Apple Home Collection” of smart home accessories developed with partners including LG and Schneider Electric. The planned lineup includes a smart doorbell, deadbolt lock, thermostat, temperature sensor, indoor and outdoor security cameras, and a floodlight camera.

LG’s HomeView-related accessories are not expected to ship until later this year at the earliest. That timing could mean the broader smart home ecosystem arrives in stages rather than as a single launch.

HomePod mini 2 and new Apple TV 4K

The next HomePod mini is expected to move from the current model’s S5 chip to the S10 chip used in the Apple Watch Series 10. It will reportedly be available in green, pink, blue, white and midnight finishes.

The new Apple TV 4K is expected to use Apple’s A19 chip with 8GB of RAM. Gurman also reports that Apple may add built-in microphones for Siri AI, potentially allowing the television box to respond to voice commands without relying entirely on the remote.

Apple may also update the Siri Remote with a built-in speaker. The addition would make the remote easier to locate when it is misplaced. These Apple TV 4K details remain framed as possibilities ahead of the announcement, rather than confirmed specifications.

The expected October 30 launch for the HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K would give Apple a near-term hardware release, while HomeView appears to be the company’s larger long-term push into dedicated smart home control.
