Apple’s next Apple TV 4K is reportedly set to receive a major processor upgrade, moving from the A15 chip used in the current 2022 model to a standard A19 chip. The refreshed streaming box is also expected to include a redesigned Siri Remote with a built-in speaker, making it easier to locate when it is lost between couch cushions.
The details come from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter. According to Gurman, the new Apple TV 4K is expected to arrive in stores on October 30, alongside a new HomePod mini. Apple is expected to introduce both products at its “Welcome home” event on Tuesday.
A19 chip would bring a substantial upgrade
The current Apple TV 4K, released in 2022, uses Apple’s A15 chip. A move to the standard A19 would give the next model a newer processor platform, although the available report does not specify how Apple will position the upgrade or what performance improvements customers should expect.
Apple has not been confirmed to be changing the Apple TV 4K’s broader hardware design or feature set beyond the reported processor and remote updates. The A19 detail remains part of the reported plans ahead of Apple’s expected announcement.
New Siri Remote could be easier to find
The updated Siri Remote is reportedly being designed with a speaker. That would address one of the most familiar frustrations with the current remote: locating the small device after it disappears into furniture or another part of the room.
The report does not explain how users would activate the remote’s sound or whether the feature would connect to an existing Apple device-finding system. It does, however, identify the speaker as a key change to the accessory arriving with the new Apple TV 4K.
Apple tested microphones for hands-free Siri
Apple has also reportedly tested built-in microphones in the Apple TV 4K itself. If included in the shipping product, the microphones could let users ask Siri questions without holding the remote or having a paired HomePod nearby.
That feature is not confirmed for the final device. The report says Apple has tested the microphones, but it remains unclear whether the company will include them in the version sold to customers.
Expected launch timing
The new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini are expected to be unveiled at Apple’s “Welcome home” event, with both products reportedly reaching stores on October 30. Apple’s announcement will need to confirm the A19 processor, the speaker-equipped remote and whether built-in microphones make it into the final Apple TV 4K.
