Verizon plans to charge customers $10 per month for iPhone Handoff, Apple’s iOS 27 feature that lets one phone number work across two separate iPhones. The carrier says support is coming soon for compatible devices, including the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro models.

Verizon included the pricing in its announcement for the iPhone Duo. Apple’s feature is designed for people who want to use a smaller companion phone in some situations while keeping a primary iPhone available for work or other needs.

How Verizon’s iPhone Handoff service works

With iPhone Handoff, customers can connect a single Verizon number to two compatible iPhones running iOS 27. The number can be switched between the devices, but it can only be active on one iPhone at a time.

Verizon says customers will retain access to its 5G network while using either compatible device. The carrier specifically describes switching between an iPhone Duo while traveling or carrying an iPhone 18 Pro for work, although the feature is intended to support a broader range of compatible iPhone models.

Apple previously said Verizon would adopt iPhone Handoff before the end of the year. Verizon has not yet provided a specific launch date beyond saying that support is coming soon.

How Verizon compares with other carriers

Verizon’s $10 monthly price is higher than the fee charged by T-Mobile, which already supports iPhone Handoff for $5 per month. AT&T has recently indicated that it has no immediate plans to add support.

Support is also expanding internationally. U.K. carrier EE says it will soon offer iPhone Handoff. The feature will be included at no extra cost for customers on the carrier’s Full Works Plus plan, while other EE customers can add it for £5 per month.

Deutsche Telekom in Germany is another carrier offering the feature. Its standalone price is €6.95 per month, although it is included with the MagentaMobil L and XL plans.

What Verizon customers need

Verizon customers will need two compatible iPhones running iOS 27 to use the service. The carrier’s announcement confirms compatibility with the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro, while also describing the offering as available on compatible iPhone models generally.

The added monthly cost makes iPhone Handoff an optional service rather than a standard capability included with Verizon wireless plans. Customers who regularly move between two iPhones may find the convenience useful, while those who only need occasional access to a second device will need to weigh the recurring fee.
