OnePlus may give both phones in its upcoming Ace 7 series a major camera upgrade. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the standard OnePlus Ace 7 and the Ace 7 Pro will each use a 200MP main rear camera, rather than reserving the higher-resolution sensor for the Pro model.
The claim would represent a substantial change from the OnePlus Ace 6, which featured a 50MP primary rear camera. However, OnePlus has not confirmed the Ace 7 series’ camera specifications, launch timing or availability.
Both Ace 7 models could share a 200MP camera
Digital Chat Station previously indicated that the Ace 7 series would receive a 200MP main camera, but it was not clear whether the component would be limited to the higher-end Ace 7 Pro. The latest tip suggests that both models will use it.
A higher pixel count does not by itself guarantee better photographs, but it can support detailed images and cropping when paired with suitable sensor hardware and image processing. The reported upgrade would also give the regular Ace 7 a more advanced primary camera than its predecessor.
Ace 7 Pro may add 3.5x optical zoom
The Ace 7 Pro is also tipped to include a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. A periscope design allows the phone to provide longer-range optical zoom within a relatively slim handset by folding the light path inside the device.
According to the same tip, OnePlus could use image-processing algorithms from Oppo’s flagship phones. OnePlus and Oppo are both part of the same corporate group, but the report does not specify which software features or processing methods would appear on the Ace 7 Pro.
Expected Ace 7 series features
The two phones are reportedly being prepared for a simultaneous launch and could both include ultrasonic fingerprint scanners built into their displays. Ultrasonic readers use sound waves to identify a fingerprint rather than relying on an optical image.
Earlier leaks have pointed to a 6.78-inch OLED display and a 9,000mAh battery for the Ace 7. The series has also been linked with a built-in active cooling fan that uses a new dual-airflow system. These specifications remain unconfirmed, and it is not yet clear whether they apply to both models.
The camera details suggest that OnePlus could position the Ace 7 family around both high-resolution photography and sustained performance. Until the company announces the phones, however, the reported 200MP sensors, Pro telephoto camera and other hardware should be treated as unverified information.
