Apple’s tvOS 27.2 beta appears to lay the groundwork for Apple Intelligence on a future Apple TV. Code found in the software references a new “Improve Siri & Apple Intelligence” setting, suggesting that upcoming Apple TV hardware could support Apple’s newer AI features.
The discovery does not confirm that Apple Intelligence will arrive on current Apple TV models. Instead, the setting appears alongside existing Siri data-sharing controls and may only become visible on hardware capable of running the required features.
A new Apple Intelligence privacy setting
The code includes a privacy disclosure that asks users to help improve Apple’s foundation models and Siri by allowing Apple to collect and use text and audio interactions with Siri, Dictation and Translate.
That wording is consistent with privacy controls already used on Apple devices that support Apple Intelligence. Devices without Apple Intelligence use a similarly positioned setting called “Improve Siri & Dictation,” making the change in tvOS 27.2 a potential indicator of new hardware support.
The control would give users a way to manage whether their interactions contribute to Apple’s model and assistant improvements. Its presence in the beta, however, does not establish when Apple might activate the feature or which Apple TV model would receive it.
Siri could gain message-related features
tvOS 27.2 also includes a new Siri Messages user-interface framework. That could allow message content from a linked iPhone to appear on an Apple TV in the future.
Potential capabilities include having Siri read messages and present smart reply suggestions on the television. Apple TV’s current Siri implementation does not support reading or sending messages, so the framework may be connected to the broader Siri AI work suggested by the beta.
It remains unclear whether these functions would be available immediately with new hardware or would arrive through a later tvOS update. The framework could also represent preparation for features that Apple has not yet announced.
Rumoured hardware could support on-device AI
Apple is reportedly developing an Apple TV with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and an A19 or A19 Pro chip. Those components would provide the type of hardware headroom that could support on-device Siri AI features.
The combination of the new privacy setting, the Siri Messages framework and reported hardware upgrades suggests Apple is preparing tvOS for a more capable Apple TV. Still, the company has not confirmed a new model or described its Apple Intelligence plans for the platform.
A new Apple TV could arrive as soon as October 13, according to the information available in the report. Until Apple makes an announcement, the timing and final specifications remain unconfirmed.
