Samsung will launch the Galaxy F70 5G in India on October 18, according to a Flipkart microsite for the phone. The listing gives the device a starting price in the INR 1X,XXX range, placing it below INR 20,000, or roughly $225.
The Galaxy F70 5G will be positioned as a budget-friendly 5G smartphone with a Super AMOLED display, a 50MP stabilised main camera and a 5,000mAh battery. Samsung says the F series is designed and made in India.
Galaxy F70 5G specifications
The phone features an FHD+ Super AMOLED screen with a waterdrop notch and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Flipkart’s listing does not disclose the display size or refresh rate, although previously reported information about a possible connection to the Galaxy A17 5G points to a 6.7-inch panel with a 90Hz refresh rate.
Power comes from Samsung’s Exynos 1330 chipset. The rear camera system includes a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilisation, which Samsung calls its “No Shake Cam”, alongside a 5MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. A 13MP camera handles selfies.
The 5,000mAh battery supports 25W wired charging. The handset measures 7.5mm thick and has dust and splash resistance. Buyers will be able to choose between Vivid Violet and Bold Black finishes.
Software and Samsung features
Samsung is highlighting several software features on the Galaxy F70 5G, including Circle to Search, Google Gemini, Samsung Wallet with Tap and Pay, Quick Share and Voice Focus. Knox security is also included.
The listing does not specify the Android version or the exact memory configurations. However, the phone’s apparent hardware match with the Galaxy A17 5G suggests it could be offered with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, along with support for six major Android updates. Those details should be treated as expected specifications until Samsung confirms them.
Galaxy F70 5G appears related to Galaxy A17 5G
The Galaxy F70 5G’s disclosed specifications closely match those associated with the Galaxy A17 5G, including the 7.5mm body thickness and the same camera arrangement. Its model number had also previously suggested a relationship between the two devices.
If the connection is accurate, the F70 5G would be a rebranded version of the Galaxy A17 5G for the Indian market. Samsung has used a similar approach with the Galaxy F70e, which is linked to the Galaxy A07 5G.
Samsung is expected to reveal the final price, configurations and availability details when the Galaxy F70 5G launches in India on October 18.
