Samsung’s upcoming Android XR smart glasses have reportedly appeared in leaked images alongside hardware specifications and details about their planned frame designs. The glasses were first announced in July, but Samsung has not confirmed a release date. A recent rumor points to a possible November launch.
The leaked information, attributed to SammyGuru, shows designs created with eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. It also provides a more complete picture of the glasses’ hardware and software capabilities than Samsung’s initial announcement, which confirmed Android XR and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform.
Samsung smart glasses specifications
The Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset is reportedly paired with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The glasses are said to provide up to nine hours of battery life on a single charge, while their charging case could extend total use to as much as 72 hours.
A 12MP camera is expected to handle still photography and video recording. According to the leak, it can capture video at up to 3K resolution at 30 frames per second. Audio hardware reportedly includes four microphones and two open-ear speakers.
The glasses are also said to carry an IPX4 rating. That should offer protection from light splashes and rain, but the charging case does not reportedly share the same rating. Their reported weight is 41 grams with standard lenses, although the final weight could vary between frame designs and lens configurations.
Gemini AI features and device support
Samsung’s glasses will reportedly use Google’s Gemini AI to process spoken commands and visual information. The multimodal system could read messages aloud, translate speech in real time, photograph a whiteboard and save its contents to a Notes app, among other functions.
The glasses are expected to work with both Android phones and iPhones rather than being limited to Samsung Galaxy devices. However, some capabilities may be exclusive to Galaxy phones. Regional software differences are also possible, including support for services such as Naver Maps in South Korea.
Gentle Monster and Warby Parker frame designs
Gentle Monster has reportedly created six frame styles in 16 combinations. The range includes squared, rounded, cat-eye, slim oval and oval designs, with lens and frame options including clear, light blue, gray, brown, black, burgundy, cream and pale lilac.
Warby Parker’s lineup includes three styles: Alden, Reid and Wren. They are expected to be offered with clear or dark lenses, producing 10 combinations overall. Alden and Reid reportedly come in Pine and Saddle color options, while Wren is listed in Jet Black.
Expected availability
The leaked details suggest Gentle Monster versions could launch in South Korea and the United States. Warby Parker models may initially be limited to the US, with no information yet about availability in other markets.
When sales begin, the glasses are expected to be offered through Samsung Experience Stores as well as the websites and physical stores of the respective eyewear brands. Samsung has not officially confirmed the reported specifications, pricing or launch timing.
