Google has unveiled the Fitbit Edge, a fitness tracker designed to sit between the Pixel Watch 5 and the screenless Fitbit Air. It adds a display, GPS and broader health features while keeping the lighter form factor of a dedicated tracker.

The Fitbit Edge is available for preorder in select regions for $180. Google says sales will begin on October 27. A Stephen Curry Special Edition with a different case finish and band will cost $220.

Fitbit Edge display and design

The tracker has a 1.34-inch AMOLED display with always-on functionality. A physical button on the right side of the aluminum case provides another way to navigate the interface.

Without its band, the Fitbit Edge weighs 17.7 grams and measures 11.5mm thick. It carries an IP68 rating and is water resistant to a depth of up to 50 meters, making it suitable for everyday wear and water-based activities.

Rather than running Wear OS like the Pixel Watch 5, the Fitbit Edge uses a custom tile-based interface. Google has drawn on the Pixel Watch’s design language, with glanceable complications for quick access to information.

Health and fitness tracking features

The interface can show step counts, weather, sleep information and heart-rate data. It also supports Google Maps, media controls, call notifications, quick replies, alarms and timers.

For workouts, the Fitbit Edge supports more than 50 exercise modes. The tracker includes real-time guidance, GPS tracking and automatic activity recognition, giving users tools for both planned workouts and everyday movement.

Its health sensors include red and infrared sensors for blood oxygen measurements, electrical sensors for ECG readings, a PPG optical heart-rate sensor and a far-field skin-temperature sensor. These features give the Edge a broader monitoring package than a basic activity band.

Battery life, colors and pricing

Google equips the Fitbit Edge with a 65mAh battery and claims up to seven days of battery life under normal usage. The tracker is powered by Ambiq’s AP5 microcontroller and includes 64MB of NOR flash memory.

Standard models are offered in Matte Black Aluminum with an Obsidian band, Satin Silver Aluminum with a Fog band, Satin Pyrite Aluminum with an Olive band, and Champagne Gold with a Canyon band.

The Stephen Curry Special Edition uses a Satin Pyrite Aluminum case with a special band. It is priced at $220, compared with $180 for the standard Fitbit Edge. Google has not indicated that every color or edition will be available in every region.
