The upcoming iQOO Z12 Turbo may combine a compact 6.59-inch display with a refresh rate of at least 165Hz, according to a leak from Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The phone is also expected to use an upcoming Qualcomm chipset that could launch under either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro name.
The reported specifications remain unconfirmed, and iQOO has not announced the device. However, the leak gives an early indication that the Z12 Turbo will focus on high-end performance and fast display response.
iQOO Z12 Turbo display details
Digital Chat Station says the iQOO Z12 Turbo will feature a 6.59-inch screen with an “ultra-high refresh rate.” The specific panel technology and resolution were not disclosed, but the refresh rate is reportedly set to reach at least 165Hz.
That would represent an increase over the 144Hz refresh rate associated with the previous model. A higher refresh rate can make compatible animations and supported games appear smoother, although its practical effect will depend on software support and the phone’s ability to maintain high performance.
If the report is accurate, the Z12 Turbo would keep the same general screen size as its predecessor while increasing the maximum refresh rate. The leak does not provide details about brightness, touch sampling, or display protection.
Possible Snapdragon chipset names
The phone is reportedly being developed around an upcoming Qualcomm processor. Digital Chat Station says the chip may be called either Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro.
That naming remains uncertain, so the leak does not establish the final commercial branding or the processor’s specifications. No information was provided about CPU configuration, graphics performance, modem features, or manufacturing process.
The choice of chipset will be important for the phone’s positioning, particularly if iQOO continues to market the Turbo line around gaming and sustained performance. Those capabilities cannot be assessed until Qualcomm or iQOO provides official details.
Could the phone launch as the iQOO 16R?
The iQOO Z12 Turbo could be sold outside China as the iQOO 16R, according to the report. This possibility is based on the previous generation, with the iQOO Z11 Turbo reportedly appearing in other markets under the iQOO 15R name.
The international name, launch timing, availability and pricing have not been confirmed. The earlier naming pattern provides a basis for the speculation, but it does not guarantee that iQOO will use the same strategy again.
Active cooling is reportedly under evaluation
iQOO is also said to be considering an active cooling fan for the Z12 Turbo and potential 16R. The report does not say whether the fan will be built into every version, offered as an accessory, or ultimately included at all.
More information will be needed to determine whether the rumored display, processor and cooling system make it into the final product. For now, the Z12 Turbo remains an unannounced device based on leaked information.
