A reported iOS 27 leak has revealed five previously unannounced StandBy faces planned for Apple’s upcoming iPhone Duo. The options appear to expand StandBy beyond clocks and photo displays, adding smart home controls, camera feeds, animations, and themed designs.
The details come from leaker pdfu, who shared screenshots and information about the redesigned StandBy interface on September 28. Apple has already shown some StandBy designs in promotional materials, but the new information provides a broader look at the available customization options.
Five new StandBy faces revealed
One of the most notable additions is Home Camera, which can display either a single camera feed or a grid containing up to nine feeds. The feature could make the iPhone Duo a convenient way to monitor compatible cameras while the device is resting in StandBy mode.
A second option called Home Modular appears to be designed for smart home controls, although the available information does not specify which controls it will support. The leak also identifies a Snoopy-themed face, adding a character-based design to the lineup.
Two other faces are called Flow and Fade. Flow may include animations, while no further details are currently available about Fade.
Existing designs and customization options
The newly revealed faces join designs that Apple has already shown or that have otherwise been identified. Those include Analog, Digital, Classic Calendar, Weather, Photos, Memories, Shared Albums, and Modular.
StandBy will reportedly include a face editor that lets users change the interface’s style and colors. Swipe gestures will provide a faster way to make visual adjustments, building on the customization controls already available in the iPhone’s current StandBy experience.
Clock faces that support widgets will also offer five widget arrangements: StandBy, Stacked, Top, Middle, and Bottom. These layouts appear intended to give users more control over where supporting information appears around the clock.
When the iPhone Duo launches
The app intended to host the redesigned faces, called Rushmore, is not present in the iOS 27.1 simulator. However, its localization strings reportedly reveal the additional face names, and pdfu said some of the designs could be run in the current renderer.
Apple is expected to open iPhone Duo preorders on October 16, followed by a launch on October 23. More information about StandBy and the device’s other software features may emerge as those dates approach.
