Apple's upcoming iPhone Duo may introduce a faster way to manage Focus modes directly from the Lock Screen. According to code explorer pdfu, a new button appears above the bottom Lock Screen controls whenever a Focus mode is active, allowing users to switch it off and back on without opening the device.
The reported change is part of the broader interface work expected for Apple's first foldable iPhone. Apple is reportedly rebuilding iOS 27 so the interface can adapt as the device folds, unfolds and moves between its two displays.
How the new Focus control may work
When a Focus mode is enabled, the additional button would appear above the existing controls at the bottom of the Lock Screen. Tapping it could temporarily disable the active Focus, with another tap restoring it while the user remains on the Lock Screen.
The control is reportedly available only until the user leaves the Lock Screen. The details suggest Apple is aiming to reduce the number of steps needed to adjust Focus settings during situations where users want to quickly change notification behavior.
Active Focus mode could be easier to see
pdfu also says the active Focus mode will appear in the status bar above the clock after the iPhone Duo is unlocked. That placement could make it more apparent when a Focus setting is still affecting notifications and other device behavior.
The reported Lock Screen treatment represents a change from relying primarily on the existing Focus interface. Apple has not publicly confirmed the feature, so its final design and availability could change before iOS 27 and the iPhone Duo are released.
iPhone Duo launch timing
Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo are scheduled to open at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, October 16, with availability expected to begin Friday, October 23. The device is described as Apple's first foldable iPhone, and the software changes are reportedly designed to accommodate its two-display design.
For users who frequently switch between work, personal and other Focus modes, the reported control could make those changes more convenient. More details are expected as Apple provides additional information about the iPhone Duo and iOS 27.
