Apple’s rumored 20th-anniversary iPhone lineup could feature slightly larger displays than the iPhone 18 Pro models, according to specifications shared by Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The reported figures point to a 6.41-inch panel for the iPhone 20 Pro and a 6.96-inch display for the iPhone 20 Pro Max.

Digital Chat Station says the iPhone 20 Pro screen may have a resolution of approximately 2,686 by 1,236 pixels. The Pro Max is reportedly being tested with a resolution of around 2,912 by 1,340 pixels. If those specifications reach production, Apple could market the larger model as having a 7-inch display.

How the rumored displays compare

The proposed sizes would represent a modest increase over the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The iPhone 18 Pro is listed with a 6.27-inch display, commonly rounded to 6.3 inches, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max measures 6.86 inches, or approximately 6.9 inches.

The reported resolution increases closely match the larger physical dimensions. That suggests Apple may be retaining a pixel density of roughly 460 pixels per inch, rather than making the displays substantially sharper. Display measurements are based on a standard rectangle, so the usable viewing area is somewhat smaller because of the phones’ rounded corners.

For comparison, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are reported to use resolutions of 2,622 by 1,206 pixels and 2,868 by 1,320 pixels, respectively.

Apple may be testing a borderless iPhone design

The display leak also includes a claim that Apple is experimenting with a “borderless quad-curved” design. Such a panel would curve away on all four sides and could make the phone appear more like a single, uninterrupted sheet of glass, with much of the metal frame hidden during ordinary use.

Apple last increased the sizes of its premium iPhone displays with the iPhone 16 Pro models in 2024. The iPhone 16 Pro grew from 6.1 to 6.3 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max increased from 6.7 to 6.9 inches. That change came through slimmer bezels and slightly larger device dimensions.

Under-display Face ID remains uncertain

Apple is also rumored to be working on thinner and brighter OLED panels for the anniversary models. Other reported experiments include moving Face ID beneath the display and potentially hiding the front-facing camera under the screen.

However, Digital Chat Station says Apple is testing a smaller Dynamic Island-style hole-punch cutout for the iPhone 20 Pro models. That could indicate Apple is considering multiple front-camera and biometric-sensor designs instead of committing to a completely uninterrupted display.

Apple’s iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max are expected to launch in September 2027, following the release of the regular iPhone 18 earlier that year. Apple is also expected to skip an iPhone 19 generation, mirroring its move from the iPhone 8 to the iPhone X.
