Shoppers who waited to order the iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max are now looking at noticeably longer waits, with delivery estimates on Apple's U.S. online store pushed well past the September 18 launch day.
When will new orders arrive?
Pre-orders opened on Saturday, September 12 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time in the U.S. and many other countries. The earliest buyers are set to receive their phones on launch day, Friday, September 18. Orders placed after the initial rush, however, carry considerably later shipping windows.
As of Monday, September 14 at 6 a.m. Pacific Time, Apple's estimated delivery dates were as follows:
- iPhone 18 Pro (all colors and storage capacities): September 29 to October 6
- iPhone 18 Pro Max (all colors and storage capacities): October 6 to October 13
That means the latest orders for the Pro Max could arrive nearly a month after launch day. Apple noted that inventory may continue to tighten for both delivery and in-store pickup over the coming days, so waits could grow further.
Ways to still get one sooner
Missing the launch-day delivery window does not necessarily rule out getting a device on September 18. Apple Store pickup may still be available for certain configurations, and carriers and third-party retailers such as Best Buy could have launch-day stock. Availability depends heavily on the specific model, color, and storage tier a buyer wants.
The demand pattern is familiar for high-end iPhone models, where the Pro and Pro Max routinely sell out fastest in their initial pre-order window. Buyers hoping to avoid a long wait are generally better off checking multiple channels—Apple's site, carriers, and big-box retailers—rather than relying on a single option.
What about the iPhone Duo?
Apple's lineup this cycle also includes the iPhone Duo, whose pre-orders are scheduled to begin later. According to Apple's timeline, iPhone Duo pre-orders open on Friday, October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, giving shoppers a separate opportunity if they are considering that model instead.
For those set on a Pro or Pro Max, the takeaway is straightforward: the sooner an order goes in, the sooner it ships. With estimates already stretching into October, anyone still deciding may want to act quickly or explore in-store and retailer stock for a faster hand-off.
