Apple may give iPhone users more control over Suggested Actions in Messages with iOS 27.2. The feature can recommend one-tap actions based on the context of a conversation, and new controls found in the beta could let users disable specific suggestions or automatically hide recommendations they rarely use.
Suggested Actions first appeared during the iOS 27 beta but did not ship in the final version of iOS 27. The feature has returned in the iOS 27.2 beta, where Apple appears to be testing a settings screen for managing its recommendations.
Individual controls for Messages suggestions
According to code explorer pdfu, iOS 27.2 beta 3 includes separate switches for several Suggested Actions. The options shown include Add to Calendar, Add to Reminders, Add to Notes, Show in Maps, and Flights and Packages.
These controls could make the feature less intrusive for people who only want certain types of recommendations. For example, a user could keep calendar-related actions enabled while turning off suggestions linked to Notes or Maps. Apple has not confirmed that every option shown in the beta will be included in the public release.
Unused suggestions could disappear automatically
The settings screen also includes a switch labelled “Hide Unused Suggestions.” When enabled, suggestions that have not been used for 30 days would stop appearing in Messages, according to the beta details shared by pdfu.
Hidden recommendations would not necessarily be permanent. The same information indicates that users could restore an individual suggestion by switching its control off and then back on. That would provide a way to reduce clutter without removing the feature entirely.
What else is coming in iOS 27.2
Suggested Actions are one part of a broader iOS 27.2 update. Apple is also testing a redesigned Health app with new Insight and Longevity tabs, along with additional Siri AI language support.
The release timing is not yet confirmed. Apple is expected to launch the iPhone Duo with iOS 27.1 on October 23, and the company previously said that the new Siri AI languages in iOS 27.2 would arrive in October. That suggests iOS 27.2 could follow the iPhone Duo launch, although Apple has not announced a specific date.
As with other beta features, the individual Suggested Actions controls could change or be removed before iOS 27.2 reaches all users. The current implementation indicates that Apple is considering more granular ways to manage automated recommendations in Messages.
