Apple is expected to release iOS 27.1 in October, following the public launch of iOS 27. The timing is effectively confirmed by the company's own product plans, and the update is set to bring expanded Siri language support, delayed features from the initial iOS 27 release, and software support for Apple's new foldable iPhone.

When will iOS 27.1 arrive?

Apple's press release for the iPhone Duo stated that the device will ship with iOS 27.1 installed. Because the iPhone Duo launches on Friday, October 23, iOS 27.1 must be released by that date at the latest — and it will likely arrive several days earlier.

iOS 27 becomes available to the public today after roughly three months of beta testing. The first beta of iOS 27.1 is expected to follow shortly afterward, giving developers and testers an early look at what the update includes.

Expanded Siri language support

During its iPhone event, Apple announced that Siri AI will become available in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish starting in October. Given that timeframe, this broadened language support beyond English is likely to arrive as part of iOS 27.1, expanding Siri's reach to a much larger group of users worldwide.

Features held back from iOS 27

Apple has confirmed that two features will not be included in the initial iOS 27 release. In the Messages app, suggestions such as "Add to Reminders" and "Add to Notes" are being held back, and in the Passwords app, the ability to automatically fix compromised passwords with a single tap is also delayed.

The company said only that these features will arrive in a "future software update." iOS 27.1 represents the earliest realistic opportunity for them to appear, though Apple has not committed to a specific release.

Foldable iPhone support

iOS 27.1 will also add support for the iPhone Duo's unique foldable interface. Because the device ships with the update preinstalled, the software is a prerequisite for the new form factor and its adapted user experience.

Beyond these confirmed and expected changes, iOS 27.1 is likely to include additional new features, bug fixes, and security patches, as is typical for a point release. Apple has not published a full changelog, so further details should become clearer once beta testing begins.
