FCC filings offer the first detailed look at three LG smart home accessories that Apple reportedly helped develop: a connected thermostat, a temperature sensor and a smart deadbolt. The documents reveal their exterior designs, wireless technologies and several technical details, although Apple is not named in the filings.
Apple's reported involvement comes from a Bloomberg report that described a partnership between the two companies. LG is expected to sell the products under its own brand while Apple helps shape their design, features and engineering.
LG smart thermostat includes 60GHz radar
The LG TMCTAW5W thermostat has a round, puck-like design with a raised outer edge. It uses a 24-volt AC power supply and includes Matter setup information, a QR code and wiring connections on its rear panel.
Regulatory testing shows support for 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Thread. A separate radio report also confirms a built-in 60GHz radar, which could support presence or approach detection.
Information shared by the leaker known as pdfu points to a “Far Sight Display” option, humidity readings, brightness and language controls, as well as temperature calibration and temperature-offset settings. Those options would let owners fine-tune how the thermostat measures and displays conditions in a room.
Temperature sensor tracks heat and humidity
The TMST2A6W temperature sensor uses a replaceable CR2477 coin-cell battery and has a compact, circular design. Its wireless testing confirms Bluetooth Low Energy and Thread connectivity, while Matter setup information appears on the rear.
According to pdfu, the sensor measures both temperature and humidity. A magnetic back allows it to attach to metal surfaces, and an included adhesive-backed metal plate supports installation elsewhere. The device is also expected to warn users when its battery needs replacing.
Smart deadbolt uses Bluetooth and UWB
LG's smart deadbolt will reportedly come in Graphite and Silver versions, identified by model numbers TMCDD15G and TMCDD15S. The interior unit has a tall shape with curved ends and runs on four AA batteries.
The lock supports Bluetooth, Thread, near-field communication and ultra wideband. An FCC order describes a proximity-based unlocking process: the lock first verifies access credentials from a compatible device over Bluetooth, then uses UWB to confirm the device's position before granting entry.
Additional details shared by pdfu include an opening keypad, adjustable touchpad lighting, sound controls, automatic unlocking, tap-to-unlock support, emergency power and master codes. The lock reportedly includes two mechanical keys and supports 2.375-inch and 2.75-inch backsets.
Part of a broader Apple smart home strategy
The three products are reportedly part of a seven-device range that may also include wired and wireless security cameras, a video doorbell and a floodlight camera. Labels in the filings reference Hyundai HT Global's factory in Vietnam.
The arrangement would give Apple a way to broaden its smart home ecosystem while LG manages manufacturing and product support. The companies have collaborated before on UltraFine displays for Macs, and LG expanded its smart home business by acquiring an 80% stake in Athom, the company behind the Homey platform, in 2024.
Apple is also reportedly developing its own home hub, updated Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini, along with a separate AI-powered security camera and sensor project expected in 2027. Those Apple-designed products remain distinct from the LG accessories.
