New renders of Asus’s Googlebook notebook provide an early look at Google’s upcoming laptop lineup ahead of pre-orders scheduled to begin on September 21. The images, obtained by The Mac Observer, show a familiar notebook design with several details that could distinguish Googlebook models from other ChromeOS laptops.
Google and its hardware partners have not yet officially detailed the devices, so the renders remain the main indication of what Asus’s model will look like before launch. Pricing, configurations and availability are expected to become clearer when pre-orders open.
Distinctive Googlebook design
The Asus Googlebook appears to use a conventional laptop form factor, but the renders show two notable design elements. The keyboard includes a dedicated-looking “G” key, while the lid features an RGB light bar. Based on the designs seen so far, both elements may be shared across the broader Googlebook range rather than being exclusive to Asus’s model.
The images also point to a large touchpad and a keyboard designed for everyday use. The available views do not reveal the full specification sheet, screen details or internal hardware, leaving several important questions unanswered ahead of the launch.
Multiple ports shown in the renders
Connectivity appears to be one of the Asus model’s stronger features. The side profile shows at least two USB-C ports and two USB-A ports, giving users access to both newer and older peripherals without relying entirely on adapters.
A 3.5mm audio jack is also visible. That combination could make the laptop practical for users who connect external storage, accessories or wired headphones, although the renders do not confirm the capabilities of each USB-C port.
Active cooling could signal a higher-performance model
One of the more unexpected details is the apparent presence of an active cooling system. Many lightweight laptops use passive cooling, so a visible fan-based solution could indicate that this particular Asus Googlebook configuration is intended for more demanding workloads.
It is also possible that Googlebook models will differ internally, with some versions using active cooling and others choosing a quieter passive design. The available images do not establish whether the cooling system is standard across the lineup or limited to a specific configuration.
What to expect on September 21
Googlebook pre-orders are scheduled to begin on September 21, when more information about pricing and availability should emerge. Until then, the renders offer a preliminary view rather than a complete product announcement. The Asus model’s final specifications, performance details and regional release plans remain unconfirmed.
