Apple is heading into a potentially busy October, with the foldable iPhone Duo, two iOS updates, and a new Mac Studio configuration already expected during the month. Reports also point to several additional products, including a smart home hub, a new Apple TV 4K, a second-generation HomePod mini, and updated Macs.

Some dates and products have been confirmed by Apple, while others remain based on reporting and rumors. The company has not announced an October event.

Confirmed Apple releases in October

  • Foldable iPhone Duo: Apple is expected to launch the iPhone Duo on October 23, with pre-orders beginning October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time.
  • iOS 27.1: The iPhone Duo will ship with iOS 27.1, so Apple is expected to release the update before the phone reaches customers.
  • iOS 27.2: Apple has moved directly to an iOS 27.2 beta because iOS 27.1 is focused on the foldable iPhone. The newer update is expected to add five Siri AI languages that Apple promised for October.
  • Mac Studio with 512GB of RAM: Apple has said that a high-end Mac Studio using the M5 Ultra chip and 512GB of memory will arrive in late October.

These releases could make October notable even without additional hardware announcements. The iPhone Duo will also serve as the first major hardware launch tied to iOS 27.1.

Three rumored devices could arrive October 13

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple may unveil three products on October 13: a new smart home hub, a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, and a second-generation HomePod mini.

The rumored smart home hub would reportedly use Siri AI, an A18 chip or newer, and a square display measuring between 6 and 7 inches. Apple is said to be considering both a tabletop version with a speaker base and a wall-mounted model. The device could run a new platform featuring clock faces and widgets. Trademark filings have also suggested that the software may be called homeOS.

The rumored Apple TV 4K could include an A19 or A19 Pro chip, between 8GB and 12GB of RAM, Apple’s N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, and a revised Siri Remote. A leak suggested that its exterior design would remain similar to the current model.

The rumored HomePod mini 2 is expected to retain the existing design while gaining a newer chip, Siri AI support, improved audio, an N1 chip, second-generation Ultra Wideband technology, and new pink and green color options.

More Macs and an OLED iPad mini may follow

Apple could announce another group of products during the final week of October. The possible lineup includes 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with OLED displays, touchscreen support, M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, a thinner design, and a Dynamic Island. Built-in cellular connectivity using a future Apple modem has also been suggested.

Other rumored Mac updates include a 24-inch iMac with an M6 chip and new colors, along with a 14-inch MacBook Pro using the M6 chip.

An updated iPad mini could also arrive during October. Rumored changes include an OLED display, an A20 Pro chip, a landscape-oriented front camera, a redesigned speaker system, and water resistance.

Apple may use press releases instead of an event

Apple has not confirmed an October keynote or launch event. If it does not hold one, the company could announce products through its Newsroom, supported by short product videos and selected hands-on sessions. Apple’s 2023 “Scary Fast” event was announced six days before it took place, so the timing of any invitation could clarify the company’s plans.
