Apple plans to introduce new products on Tuesday, October 13, marketing chief Greg Joswiak announced. The company is not planning a conventional Apple event, but it has invited some members of the media to New York City for hands-on access to the new devices.

The New York sessions are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. local time. Apple may reveal the products around that time through press releases rather than a livestreamed presentation. Joswiak’s announcement video points toward a launch centered on Apple’s home products.

New Apple home hub reportedly on the way

The most significant expected announcement is an all-new home hub designed to combine a display, smart home controls, and Siri features. Reports indicate that the device will use a roughly 6-inch screen and come in two versions: one designed for wall mounting and another paired with a half-dome speaker base.

The hub is expected to run software based on tvOS, potentially under the name homeOS. It could show calendars, widgets, apps, and other personalized information for different members of a household, while also controlling compatible smart home accessories.

Siri’s AI capabilities are expected to be central to the product. A camera and presence sensors could help identify which person is nearby, allowing the display to present an individual interface. The camera may also support video calls, while the screen could play videos such as cooking instructions.

When idle, the hub is expected to display the time. Reports have suggested pricing could begin at about $350, with Apple envisioning multiple units being installed around a home. Apple has not confirmed the product’s name, specifications, or price.

HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K updates

Apple is also expected to refresh the HomePod mini. The updated speaker could add new color choices, a faster processor, and Apple’s N1 networking chip. That chip is reportedly intended to support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity. New Siri AI functions may also be part of the update.

An updated Apple TV 4K is reportedly in development with a faster chip, more memory, and the same N1 networking technology. Possible configurations include an A19 or A19 Pro processor with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM, although those details remain unconfirmed. The set-top box is also expected to gain expanded Siri AI capabilities.

More Apple hardware could arrive later

Apple is expected to hold another product introduction on October 27 focused on Macs and the iPad mini. Potential announcements include an iPad mini with an OLED display, improved water resistance, and a faster chip. The upgrade could also bring a higher price.

Apple is additionally reported to be developing an OLED touchscreen MacBook with a thinner, lighter design. It could be positioned as a MacBook Pro or a new MacBook Ultra and may use M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. Other possible products include an M6 iMac and a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip before the end of the year.

Apple has confirmed the October 13 launch date, but the product details remain based on reports and expectations until the company makes its announcements.
