Apple is expected to unveil three new home products today: the HomeView smart home hub, a second-generation HomePod mini and an updated Apple TV 4K. The company’s private “Welcome home” experience in New York is scheduled to begin today, with product announcements likely to appear on Apple’s Newsroom website around 9 a.m. Eastern Time.
Invited reporters and creators have already begun arriving at the New York venue. Photos shared by Marques Brownlee and Andru Edwards show guests outside Apple’s event space, though neither post confirms specific product details.
HomeView could become Apple’s smart home hub
HomeView is reportedly designed as a central control panel for Apple’s smart home ecosystem. It is expected to support home accessories, security features, photo galleries, calendars, music playback and FaceTime video calls. Multi-user support could allow families to use the hub with individual preferences.
The device is said to include a roughly 6-inch square display and an A18 chip intended to support Apple Intelligence features. Siri is expected to play a prominent role. Apple may also introduce a new operating system, potentially called “homeOS,” with clock faces, widgets and other interface options.
Reports describe two versions: a tabletop model with a metal speaker base and a wall-mounted model with a flat, square plate. The tabletop version is expected in Gray, Silver, Starlight and Rose, while the wall-mounted model may be limited to Gray and Silver. HomeView is reportedly expected to run Apple apps but not offer an App Store for third-party software.
Apple Home Collection accessories reportedly planned
HomeView may launch alongside an “Apple Home Collection” of accessories developed with partners including LG and Schneider Electric. The reported lineup includes a smart doorbell, deadbolt, thermostat, temperature sensor, indoor and outdoor security cameras and a floodlight camera.
Those accessories would expand Apple’s role in the smart home beyond its existing Home app and HomeKit-compatible products. However, the details remain unconfirmed until Apple publishes its announcements.
New HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K details
The next HomePod mini is rumored to use Apple’s S10 chip, which also appears in the Apple Watch Series 10, replacing the S5 chip used in the current model released in 2020. New color options, including pink and green, have also reportedly surfaced.
The updated Apple TV 4K could receive an A19 chip, Siri AI support and a redesigned Siri Remote with a built-in speaker to make it easier to locate. It may also include Apple’s N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support.
The new HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K are reportedly scheduled to launch on Friday, October 30. HomeView may follow in mid-November, suggesting Apple could announce all three devices together while releasing them on different schedules.
