Apple is bringing Apple Intelligence to Apple TV, adding a more conversational Siri, personalized entertainment searches, and summaries of smart home camera activity. The features will arrive in beta with tvOS 27.2 on the second-generation Apple TV 4K and newer models.
The update is designed to make it easier to find something to watch, ask questions while viewing, and manage compatible smart home devices without leaving the living room.
AI-powered search and recommendations
Siri AI will use a full-screen interface when users search for movies and television shows. Results will include poster artwork from the Apple TV app, along with suggestions for related content.
Users can ask questions such as which Apple TV shows won Emmy Awards this year and then explore recommendations for other award-winning programs. Siri can also answer follow-up questions during playback. Viewers might ask about a production’s filming locations or whether a show is suitable for a particular age, with responses appearing in a small overlay on top of the video.
Apple also says Siri AI will provide broader general-knowledge answers and perform more actions across apps. The assistant’s personal context support can use information from a paired device with Apple Intelligence enabled. For example, a viewer could ask Siri to play a show that someone recommended without remembering the program’s title.
Apple TV becomes a more capable home hub
Apple Intelligence will also expand Apple TV’s role as a home hub. The system can describe activity captured in HomeKit Secure Video recordings and summarize notifications in the Home app.
Siri AI will control compatible smart home accessories as well. Users can ask the assistant to turn scenes on or off, adding voice control for supported home routines alongside entertainment searches.
tvOS 27.2 availability and Apple TV pricing
Siri AI will initially be available as a beta feature through tvOS 27.2. Apple says compatibility begins with the second-generation Apple TV 4K and includes later models, so owners of existing supported devices will not necessarily need to buy new hardware.
Apple is also taking preorders for the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K at $299 in the United States. The device is scheduled to become available on November 13.
The combination of conversational search, personal context, and smart home summaries gives Apple TV a wider role than streaming playback alone. However, the Siri AI features will remain in beta when they first reach compatible devices.
