Apple is expected to introduce touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro models and a new OLED iPad mini on or around October 27, according to Bloomberg. The launch is also expected to include a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip and an M6 iMac.

The reported event would follow Apple's October 13 launch of a new smart home hub, a refreshed Apple TV 4K, and an updated HomePod mini. Bloomberg says both October product launches will include an online video presentation and a hands-on media experience.

What to expect from the OLED MacBook Pro

Apple has reportedly been developing an OLED MacBook for several years. Although earlier speculation suggested the notebook could be called the MacBook Ultra, Bloomberg says the new 14-inch and 16-inch models will remain part of the MacBook Pro range.

The new laptops are expected to be thinner and lighter than current MacBook Pro models. Their most notable changes would be OLED displays and touchscreen support, while a Dynamic Island is also reportedly planned for the design.

A touchscreen MacBook Pro would represent a significant change for Apple's notebook lineup, which has traditionally relied on a trackpad and keyboard rather than direct display input. The reported 14-inch M6 model could give Apple a more conventional MacBook Pro option alongside the redesigned OLED machines.

OLED iPad mini changes

The new iPad mini is expected to receive an OLED display along with several design and hardware updates. Bloomberg reports that Apple plans to move the front-facing camera to a landscape orientation, a change intended to better suit video calls when the tablet is held horizontally.

The tablet is also expected to feature a redesigned speaker system. Together with the OLED panel, those changes would give the smallest iPad a more substantial update than a display upgrade alone.

Two October launch events

The reported October 27 launch would be the second of two Apple product announcements scheduled for the month. The first, on October 13, is expected to focus on home and entertainment products, including Apple's smart home hub, Apple TV 4K, and HomePod mini.

Apple has not been identified as confirming the October 27 lineup in the available report. The timing and product details should therefore be treated as reported plans rather than a final announcement. If the launch proceeds as described, it will bring OLED technology to both Apple's professional notebooks and its compact tablet range.
