Apple says demand for the iPhone Duo has been “nothing short of extraordinary” after delivery estimates moved into 2027 within minutes of the device’s preorder launch. The company said it is working to get the new product to customers as quickly as possible.

Preorders opened at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, with the first deliveries scheduled for October 23. Initial availability declined rapidly: estimates moved from October 23 to November within minutes, then reached January 25 by about 5:30 a.m.

iPhone Duo delivery estimates reach 2027

Apple’s online store no longer offers the iPhone Duo for delivery during 2026. Customers placing an order now are being told to expect the device in early 2027, meaning some buyers could wait several months after ordering.

Rumors before the preorder launch had suggested that supplies might be limited because of manufacturing difficulties. Apple has not confirmed the nature of any production constraints, but the rapid shift in delivery dates indicates that initial inventory is under significant pressure.

That estimate may not be final. During previous iPhone launches with limited supply, Apple has sometimes delivered orders earlier than its initial forecasts. However, the company has not guaranteed an earlier shipment schedule for the iPhone Duo.

Apple Store availability remains unclear

Apple has not said whether customers will be able to buy the iPhone Duo as walk-in inventory on October 23, the official launch day. If stores do receive stock, the shortage could bring longer lines to Apple retail locations than shoppers have seen in recent years.

Apple’s website does indicate that store pickup availability may be possible. The company is asking customers to check back on October 24 for information about local stock, although that does not confirm how many units will be available or where.

iPhone Duo pricing and storage options

The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999. The top configuration costs $3,199 and includes 2TB of storage. The first orders are expected to reach customers on October 23, provided they were placed before delivery estimates moved later.

For buyers who did not order early, Apple’s current estimates make retailer availability and store pickup important alternatives. Neither option is guaranteed, and customers may need to wait until 2027 for direct delivery.
