Apple’s $79 case for the iPhone Duo attaches to the device with adhesive strips, making it a more permanent installation than the company’s alternative Folio accessory. The two-piece case is already available in stores, ahead of the first iPhone Duo deliveries next week.

Details shared by people who have handled the case show that adhesive strips run along the inside edges of both sections. An included insert tells owners to remove the protective film, position each half on the phone and press the pieces down to secure them.

How the iPhone Duo Case attaches

The case is made from polycarbonate and comes in Sand and Navy Blue. It covers the rear portion of the iPhone Duo, including the area around the camera bump, while also protecting the front section around the outer display.

A cutout leaves the outer display exposed. However, the accessory does not protect the inside of the device when the iPhone Duo is unfolded. Because the case uses adhesive rather than magnets or a conventional snap-on fit, removing or repositioning it may require more care.

Parker Ortolani, who examined the accessory, described it as having a grippy finish. His observations also indicate that Apple’s adhesive approach is similar to the attachment method used by some other foldable-phone cases.

Apple also sells a magnetic Folio case

Apple’s $129 iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand takes a different approach. It connects magnetically, allowing the accessory to be folded back when the outer display is needed.

The Folio includes a kickstand with metal hinges beneath it, according to Ortolani’s observations. It covers the front display while in use but does not protect the sides of the device, giving buyers a choice between broader coverage and easier removal.

iPhone Duo availability

Apple opened iPhone Duo pre-orders on October 16, but the first units are not scheduled to reach customers until the following Friday. The initial inventory sold out, and estimated shipping dates have moved to January 25 across all colors and storage capacities.

That timing means customers can buy Apple’s protective accessories before receiving the phone itself. The two case designs also highlight a practical trade-off: the less expensive model offers coverage around the outer display and camera area but relies on adhesive, while the costlier Folio is easier to attach and remove but leaves the sides exposed.
