Apple has announced Remnants, an immersive horror film coming exclusively to the Vision Pro on Friday, October 16. The film is designed for Apple’s Immersive Video format, combining stereoscopic 3D video, an 180-degree field of view and Spatial Audio.
The project takes viewers into Woldmere Castle, an unsettling setting created by writer and director Ti West. Apple also released a short video showing people reacting while watching the film through the Vision Pro, offering a brief look at how the experience is intended to feel from inside the headset.
What to expect from Remnants
Remnants is not described as a conventional flat-screen film. Apple says it was recorded in 8K resolution and presented in 3D, with the wide 180-degree view intended to surround the viewer more fully than standard video.
Spatial Audio is also part of the presentation. That format is designed to add directional sound to the visual experience, helping place audio within the scene rather than treating it as a simple soundtrack. Together, the visual and audio elements form the technical foundation of Apple Immersive Video.
Exclusive release for Vision Pro
Apple said the film will be available only on Vision Pro when it arrives on October 16. The exclusive release gives the headset another piece of content made specifically for its capabilities, rather than a standard video adapted for a headset screen.
For Vision Pro owners, the announcement adds a horror-focused option to Apple’s immersive video lineup. The genre also gives Apple an opportunity to use the headset’s wide visual field and Spatial Audio for tension, atmosphere and viewer reactions, although Apple has not provided further details about the film’s runtime or story.
Apple shares viewer reactions
The promotional video published by Apple focuses on people watching Remnants while wearing Vision Pro. Their reactions provide the main preview of the film’s tone, while Apple’s description places the audience inside Woldmere Castle and the world created by Ti West.
Apple has not announced a release beyond the Vision Pro version. For now, the film’s October 16 debut is positioned as an Apple Immersive Video release built around the headset’s 3D, 8K, 180-degree and Spatial Audio capabilities.
