Xreal has opened pre-orders for its Aura Android XR glasses in the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea. The glasses cost $1,279 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while a higher-end version with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage costs $1,499.

The pre-order phase is currently available to customers who previously reserved the device. Xreal said the option will expand to additional regions soon.

Xreal Aura pricing and availability

Xreal first announced Aura in June and began accepting reservations at that time. Reservation holders in the four launch markets can now continue to a full pre-order.

  • 12GB RAM, 256GB storage: $1,279
  • 16GB RAM, 512GB storage: $1,499

The company has not provided additional regional availability details in the announcement, beyond saying that more markets will follow.

Optical see-through displays with 120Hz refresh rate

Aura uses an Optical See-Through display system designed to keep the surrounding environment visible while showing digital content. Its two Sony Micro-OLED panels provide a 1920x1200 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, with a 70-degree field of view.

The transparent displays can also use electrochromic dimming. This lets users reduce the view of the real world when they want to concentrate more fully on what is shown through the glasses.

Android XR and external battery puck

The glasses run Android XR and include Google's Gemini assistant. Xreal says the device weighs less than 95 grams, although its battery and some controls are housed in a separate puck.

The puck contains a 4,455 mAh battery, along with a built-in trackpad and fingerprint sensor. This design separates those components from the glasses themselves while keeping them part of the overall Aura system.

Processing comes from Qualcomm's Snapdragon Reality Elite chip. Together with the Android XR software, the platform is intended to support an augmented-reality experience that combines digital content with a view of the user's surroundings.
