Xiaomi has begun distributing the first beta build of its next major software platform, HyperOS 4, to users enrolled in the company's global beta program. The rollout follows the software's unveiling in mid-August and a recruitment drive for testers that kicked off the week before launch.

Which devices get the beta first

At launch, the HyperOS 4 beta is limited to just three handsets: the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the Xiaomi 17, and the Leica Leitzphone by Xiaomi. Owners of these phones who have secured a place in the beta program can check for the update manually by heading to Settings > About phone and tapping the version number, in case the update notification has not yet appeared.

Xiaomi has said the beta will widen on September 17 to include the Xiaomi 17T, 17T Pro, 15, and 15 Ultra. Whether additional models will be added to the program after that remains unclear.
