AppZapper, one of the longest-running utilities for cleanly removing apps on the Mac, has been rebuilt and rebranded as AppZapper 3000. The update brings a new design, refreshed functionality, and improved detection of the leftover files that ordinary uninstalls tend to leave behind.
What AppZapper 3000 does
The tool is designed to remove a Mac application along with its associated files in one step. Users drag an app into AppZapper and click a Zap All button to delete the program and its related components, accompanied by a laser-gun animation and sound effect. According to the developer, the app locates and clears all of an app's files within a few seconds.
To scan for those files, AppZapper 3000 requires Full Disk Access permission. The app also offers four selectable themes for personalizing its appearance.
Built for modern macOS
Developer Austin Sarner says the new version has been tailored to current macOS security requirements and is better at finding files linked to an installed app. AppZapper 3000 requires macOS 15 or later.
The rework arrives at a notable moment for the software. AppZapper first launched in 2006, meaning the new release marks the utility's 20th anniversary. Cleanly uninstalling Mac apps has long been a manual chore, since dragging a program to the Trash frequently leaves behind preference files, caches, and support data scattered across the system. Tools like AppZapper aim to remove those remnants automatically.
Pricing and availability
AppZapper 3000 can be downloaded for free and tested before purchase. A single-user license costs $18, while a $29 family pack allows the app to run on up to five Macs.
The app is available directly from the developer. As with many independent Mac utilities, the free trial lets users confirm the tool works with their setup before paying for a license.
