Xiaomi will launch its 18 Pro series in China on September 23, bringing a hardware-level privacy display to the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. The company has also revealed details about the phones’ screens, batteries, cameras, colors and chipset platform ahead of the event.
The new flagships will arrive with HyperOS 4 and an upgraded rear display. Xiaomi’s announcements indicate that the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max will share several major hardware features, while differing in battery capacity.
Hardware-level privacy display
The most notable display feature is a hardware-level privacy mode designed to limit what people viewing the phone from an angle can see. Xiaomi has positioned the technology alongside similar privacy display hardware used on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The phones will use a new M11 luminescent panel. Xiaomi claims the panel is 20% more efficient than the previous generation and more efficient than displays using 2K resolution. The company also lists a peak brightness of 4,000 nits and ultra-thin 0.99mm bezels.
These specifications suggest Xiaomi is focusing on both visibility and power efficiency, although real-world battery life and the effectiveness of the privacy feature will need to be assessed after the phones launch.
Battery and camera specifications
The Xiaomi 18 Pro will include a 7,000mAh battery, while the larger 18 Pro Max will use an 8,500mAh unit. Xiaomi has not provided further battery-performance details in the announcements, but the capacities are substantially larger than those commonly found in flagship smartphones.
Both models will have Leica-branded triple rear camera systems. The setup will include a 200MP primary sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. The source information does not specify the third camera or provide additional details about the sensors’ features.
Colors, software and chipset
The Xiaomi 18 Pro series will be sold in Black, Galaxy Blue and White. The devices will run HyperOS 4 and are confirmed to use a 2nm chipset.
Xiaomi has not named the processor in the available announcements. The chipset is expected to be Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, but that identification remains unconfirmed. Xiaomi is expected to provide more information during the September 23 launch in China.
The company’s announcements currently establish the Chinese launch date and the main hardware highlights. They do not confirm release timing or availability in other markets.
