vivo is reportedly planning to launch the X500 Ultra in China during March or April 2027. Huang Tao, the company’s vice president of product, is said to have shared the timing in a media interview after the X500 series launch event, although vivo has not publicly detailed the phone.

The expected window would place the X500 Ultra roughly in line with its predecessor’s schedule. vivo unveiled the X300 Ultra in China on March 30, suggesting that the next Ultra model could arrive around the same part of the year.

Expected vivo X500 Ultra launch timing

According to a report from IT Home, Huang said the X500 Ultra will debut in China sometime in March or April 2027. The report does not provide a more specific launch date, and there is no confirmed information about availability in other markets.

The timing would follow the China launch of the wider X500 lineup. vivo appears to be positioning the Ultra as a later, more camera-focused addition rather than introducing every model at the same event.

Camera improvements remain the main focus

The vivo executive reportedly said the Ultra model will create a larger difference in camera performance compared with the X500 Pro Max. That suggests the company intends to use the Ultra branding to distinguish the phone more clearly from the highest-tier model in the initial X500 range.

Tipster Digital Chat Station has also claimed that the phone’s core hardware specifications have already been finalized. However, the available report does not list a complete specification sheet, so details such as the processor, display and charging system remain unconfirmed.

One earlier rumor said vivo was testing three different 200MP sensors for the X500 Ultra’s telephoto camera. The phone is also expected to use a new 50MP main camera with a 35mm focal length and improved stabilization. These camera details remain rumors rather than confirmed specifications.

Larger battery reportedly under testing

Digital Chat Station additionally claims that the X500 Ultra will feature a larger battery, with its capacity expected to be closer to that of the recently announced X500 Pro Max. The reports do not state the exact capacity or explain whether the larger battery will affect the phone’s size or weight.

For now, the launch window and camera positioning are the clearest indications of vivo’s plans. More information will likely be needed before the X500 Ultra’s specifications, pricing and availability can be assessed.
