The vivo X Fold6 has begun its global rollout with an ambitious goal: to reduce the usual compromises of a book-style foldable. Its headline upgrades are a 200MP Zeiss-branded main camera and a 6,900mAh battery, while the device retains 80W wired charging and 40W wireless charging.

That larger battery makes the X Fold6 notable among globally available foldables. It is 900mAh larger than the previous model and exceeds the 6,660mAh capacity offered by the overseas version of the Honor Magic V6. The phone is slightly heavier than its predecessor, but vivo has kept the folded design relatively slim at 4.4mm and lists the weight at 228g.

Camera hardware aims high

The main camera uses a 200MP Samsung HPB sensor with a 1/1.4-inch format, an f/1.7 aperture, phase-detection autofocus and optical image stabilisation. vivo pairs it with a 50MP telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom, plus a 50MP autofocus ultrawide camera with a 119-degree field of view.

The camera system also supports the optional ZEISS Teleconverter G2, which extends the telephoto reach to 200mm. That accessory gives the X Fold6 an unusual emphasis on long-range photography for a foldable phone. Rear-camera video recording reaches 8K at 30 frames per second, while 4K recording is available at up to 60fps.

Both the inner and cover displays have 20MP front-facing cameras. These support 1080p video recording at 30fps, making them suited to calls and everyday selfies rather than matching the capabilities of the rear camera array.

Large displays and flagship specifications

When opened, the X Fold6 provides an 8.02-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, HDR Vivid and Dolby Vision support. It has a 2312-by-2504-pixel resolution and a nearly square 9.75:9 aspect ratio.

The outer screen is a 6.51-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision and a 20:9 aspect ratio. Its listed peak brightness reaches 5,000 nits. The phone runs Android 16 with OriginOS 6 Fold and uses MediaTek's 3nm Dimensity 9500 Super platform, alongside 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

Battery, charging and durability

The 6,900mAh capacity is split across two batteries, as is common with book-style foldables. The X Fold6 supports 80W wired charging, 40W wireless charging, wired reverse charging and 5W reverse wireless charging.

The handset carries IP58 and IP59 protection. That means dust resistance and protection against high-pressure water jets, with immersion resistance listed to a depth of 1 metre for up to 30 minutes. Other hardware includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, 5G, NFC, an infrared port, stereo speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

What comes in the box

vivo packages the X Fold6 in a substantial two-piece box with a faux-leather finish, embossing and a raised decorative ring. The review package included a 100W vivo FlashCharge adapter, a USB-C cable and a semi-transparent snap-on case. Accessory availability may vary by market, and the reviewed unit was not intended for the EU market.

The case offers limited protection, but its inclusion is useful for a phone with a large camera island and an expensive foldable display. Overall, the X Fold6's specification sheet focuses on the areas where foldables often fall short: camera hardware, battery capacity and charging speed.
