vivo has confirmed that it will unveil the vivo V80 in India on October 6 at 12 PM local time. Ahead of that announcement, a hands-on look at the Sunrise Anthem version provides a closer view of the phone’s design and its ZEISS co-developed camera system.

The V80 will be available in three colors: Sunrise Anthem, Horizon Blue, and Stellar Black. The Sunrise Anthem model shown in the hands-on images features a distinctive finish, while the rear panel houses a three-camera setup developed with ZEISS.

vivo V80 display and selfie camera

The vivo V80 has a 6.59-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. Its 144Hz refresh rate is designed to provide smoother motion, while the panel can show up to 1.07 billion colors.

Brightness is listed at up to 5,000 nits at peak, although the screen can also reduce its brightness to 1 nit. That combination gives vivo a wide claimed brightness range for different viewing conditions.

A centered punch-hole cutout sits at the top of the screen. It houses a 50MP front-facing camera that vivo describes as a “ZEISS Group Selfie Camera.”

Three ZEISS rear cameras

The rear camera system includes a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and an ultrawide camera. vivo has not yet officially confirmed the ultrawide camera’s resolution.

The main camera uses Sony’s LYTIA 700V sensor, while the 3x telephoto camera uses Sony’s IMX882 sensor. Both cameras include optical image stabilization, which can help reduce the effect of hand movement when taking photos and videos.

The camera system was used to capture a set of sample images in Bangkok, Thailand. Those samples offer an early real-world look at the primary camera’s output, although a full assessment will require more testing across different lighting and shooting conditions.

India launch details

vivo will reveal the V80 in India on October 6 at noon local time. The company has shared the phone’s display and camera details ahead of the event, but the available information does not include pricing or a complete specification list.

The launch will clarify how vivo positions the V80 in India and whether the remaining camera details, including the ultrawide sensor’s resolution, are disclosed. Until then, the phone’s headline features include a 144Hz 1.5K OLED display, a 50MP selfie camera, and a stabilized ZEISS-backed rear camera system.
