Samsung has quietly made the Galaxy A08 official, skipping the usual press release and instead simply adding the budget handset to its regional websites in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The low-key debut follows an earlier appearance of the phone on a retailer's site in the UAE.

What's new in the Galaxy A08

According to Samsung's product listings, the Galaxy A08 is a modest refresh of last year's Galaxy A07. The standout change is the battery, which grows to 6,000mAh, a 1,000mAh increase over its predecessor. That extra capacity is the most significant difference between the two models.

The phone features a 6.7-inch PLS LCD display at 720x1600 resolution. On the back sits a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, joined by a 2MP f/2.4 auxiliary sensor. A single 8MP camera handles selfies on the front.

Specs and software support

Powering the device is an unnamed chipset with a 2.2GHz octa-core processor, paired with 4GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. It ships with Android 17 and One UI 9, and Samsung is promising an unusually generous update commitment for an entry-level device: six major OS upgrades and six years of security patches.

Other details include an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, dual-SIM support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy A08 will be sold in silver, green, and dark blue.

Pricing and availability

Samsung has not confirmed European pricing yet. In the UAE, where the phone appeared first, it was listed at around $170, which places it firmly in the affordable segment where the Galaxy A series competes most aggressively.

The long software support window is the most notable takeaway here. Six years of updates on a phone priced this low raises the bar for budget handsets, giving buyers more longevity than they would typically expect at this price point. For shoppers prioritizing battery life and long-term software support over raw performance, the Galaxy A08 offers a straightforward, no-frills upgrade over the A07.
