Samsung has started rolling out One UI 9 based on Android 17 to the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra in the United States. The update is initially reaching T-Mobile versions of the three phones, following an earlier launch limited to South Korea.
The software is being delivered over the air as a 4.1GB download. Once installed, compatible phones will run Android 17 with Samsung’s One UI 9 interface, using a software build whose number ends in “BZID.” AT&T and Verizon versions are expected to follow, although the source material does not provide a specific release date for either carrier.
What One UI 9 adds to the Galaxy S26
One of the headline features is My FanCam, a Galaxy AI tool designed to turn wide-angle video into a subject-focused clip. Users can record a broad shot, select a person from the video in Gallery, and have the phone track that subject while reframing the footage into a chosen aspect ratio.
Samsung is also adding generative AI features for Now Brief. The update allows users to create and edit Now Brief cards, while Now Nudge is designed to require fewer steps. These changes extend the software’s use of AI beyond image and video editing into the phone’s information and suggestion features.
More changes in Samsung’s Android 17 update
One UI 9 also includes improvements to Creative Studio, Interpreter, Document Scan, and Voice Recorder. Samsung has added a new Warranty and Care menu in Settings, giving Galaxy S26 owners another place to access information related to their device and support coverage.
The rollout is carrier-specific, so availability may vary even among US Galaxy S26 owners. T-Mobile customers are the first group identified as receiving the update, while owners of unlocked phones and devices sold through other carriers may need to wait for their respective software releases.
How the rollout compares with Samsung’s initial launch
Samsung announced the One UI 9 rollout one week before the US expansion began. South Korea received the update first, making the T-Mobile release the next reported market expansion for the Galaxy S26 family.
As with other major Android updates, the large download means users may want to install it over Wi-Fi and ensure the phone has sufficient battery and storage available. The update brings the latest Android version and Samsung’s new software features to all three Galaxy S26 models, but the timing will depend on the carrier version.
