Samsung appears to be preparing its first Googlebook laptop, with a Geekbench listing revealing an Android-powered machine built around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processor. The device is identified only by the model number XE940XSA, so its commercial name and release timing remain unknown.
Googlebooks are laptops running Android rather than ChromeOS or Windows. Google’s official Googlebook website currently lists models from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo, making Samsung a potential new addition to the platform.
What the Geekbench listing reveals
The Geekbench 7.1.0 entry identifies the processor by Qualcomm’s code name, “Hamoa.” That code name refers to the Snapdragon X Elite family. Based on the clock speeds shown in the listing, the Samsung laptop is believed to use the Snapdragon X Elite X1E-80-100 configuration.
The listing also records 16GB of RAM. It does not provide information about the laptop’s storage capacity, although other Googlebook models have so far been offered with 512GB of storage alongside 16GB of memory.
Samsung’s device reportedly ran Android 17 during the benchmark. That separates it from the company’s Galaxy Chromebook products, which use Google’s ChromeOS platform. Samsung could apply elements of its One UI software to the standard Googlebook experience, but no details about any custom interface have appeared.
How Samsung’s laptop compares with other Googlebooks
The Snapdragon X Elite is a 4nm processor with 12 Oryon CPU cores and an Adreno X1-85 GPU. Dell and HP’s Googlebooks also use the X Elite, while the Acer, Asus and Lenovo models listed for the platform use Intel Core Ultra 5 processors.
The apparent choice of the first-generation X Elite is notable because newer Snapdragon X2 chips are available. Samsung recently introduced the Galaxy Book6 Edge with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-88-100. However, the company is not alone in using the older X Elite for a Googlebook, and the benchmark listing does not indicate whether a different configuration could appear later.
Samsung already uses Snapdragon X Elite in Windows laptops
Samsung has previous experience with Qualcomm’s first-generation laptop platform. Its 2024 Galaxy Book4 Edge ran Windows 11 and used Snapdragon X Elite processors. The 14-inch model used the X1E-80-100, while the 16-inch model was also available with the higher-clocked X1E-84-100.
The Geekbench appearance confirms neither a final product name nor a launch date. For now, it indicates that Samsung is testing an Android laptop that could expand the Googlebook lineup beyond its existing manufacturers.
