Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+, its newest flagship Android tablets. Both models use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset, run Android 17 with One UI 9, support the S Pen and are promised seven years of operating system and security updates. Sales begin in select markets on October 7.
The tablets share much of their core hardware, but the Ultra is designed for buyers who want a larger display, more memory and storage, a bigger battery and faster wireless networking. Samsung has announced starting prices for both models, although availability may vary by market.
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra gets the larger display
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a 14.6-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 2,960 x 1,848 resolution. The Galaxy Tab S12+ uses a smaller 12.6-inch panel with a 2,800 x 1,752 resolution.
Samsung says One UI 9 offers a multi-window layout with up to three sections, alongside the latest Galaxy AI features. The seven-year update commitment could also make the tablets a longer-term option for users who plan to keep their device for several years.
Battery, cameras and connectivity
The Ultra includes an 11,600mAh battery, while the Tab S12+ has a 10,600mAh cell. Both support 45W wired fast charging.
For photography, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a 13MP main rear camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera. The Plus model has a single 13MP rear camera. Both tablets include a 12MP ultrawide front camera for video calls and selfies.
Wireless connectivity is another area where the models differ. The Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, while the S12+ uses Wi-Fi 6E. Both include Bluetooth 6.0, S Pen support and a microSD card slot capable of handling up to 2TB of additional storage.
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12+ prices
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra starts at $1,399, €1,569 or £1,399 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. Samsung will also offer versions with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, plus a 16GB/1TB model.
The Galaxy Tab S12+ starts at $1,199, €1,329 or £1,199 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. A 12GB/512GB version will also be available.
Both tablets will be offered in Gray and Silver. Samsung says they will reach select markets beginning October 7.
