Samsung has begun rolling out the stable One UI 9 update to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6. The Android 17-based software is currently arriving first in South Korea, Samsung’s home market, with releases in other countries expected to follow in the coming days and weeks.
The rollout gives Samsung’s 2024 flagship phones access to the company’s latest major Android software after newer models received the update earlier. Rollout details were shared by the X account Kailash0729.
One UI 9 update sizes
For Galaxy S24 series phones that participated in Samsung’s One UI 9 beta program, the update is approximately 500MB. Devices moving directly from One UI 8.5 will need a much larger download of about 3.8GB.
The Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 receive a roughly 408MB package when updating from the beta software. For phones currently running One UI 8.5, the download is approximately 3.5GB.
These different package sizes reflect whether a device already contains parts of the new software from the beta program or is installing the full release over the previous stable version. Users should make sure they have enough available storage and a reliable Wi-Fi connection before starting the update.
Which Galaxy devices received One UI 9 first?
Samsung introduced One UI 9 on the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8 in July. The Galaxy S26 range received the software in mid-September, followed by the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 toward the end of September.
The arrival on the S24 series and sixth-generation foldables extends the update to Samsung’s previous flagship generation. Although the software has taken longer to reach these devices than the newest models, the rollout is now underway.
When will One UI 9 reach other countries?
Samsung has not provided a broader schedule in the available rollout information. The initial South Korean release suggests that distribution will expand region by region rather than arrive globally at the same time. Availability can also vary by model, carrier and market.
Galaxy S24, Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 owners can check for the update through their phone’s software update settings. If it is not available yet, the device may simply be waiting for Samsung’s regional rollout to reach that market.
