The rumored Poco X8s has moved closer to release after a phone identified by model number 2609CPC5FG received approval from Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority, or IMDA. The listing identifies Poco as the brand and Xiaomi Electronics as the applicant, but provides no launch date, pricing, or full specifications.

IMDA describes the device as a 5G mobile phone with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC connectivity. The certification follows earlier appearances for the same model number in Europe’s EEC and IECEE databases, although those listings also offered few technical details.

What the certification reveals

Regulatory approvals typically indicate that a phone is being prepared for sale in at least one market, but they do not confirm when the product will be announced. Poco has not officially discussed the X8s, so its name and specifications remain unconfirmed.

The model number’s “2609” prefix reportedly points to September 2026. That timing would make the device late relative to the date suggested by its identifier, although certification activity indicates that development or regional launch preparations are continuing.

Rumored Poco X8s specifications

According to a report cited by XpertPick, the 2609CPC5FG model will be marketed globally as the Poco X8s. The phone is reportedly planned for Europe, Turkey, Russia, and other international markets, while India is said to be excluded.

A separate Chinese version with model number M583CF is allegedly being prepared under Xiaomi’s Redmi brand. These market and branding details have not been confirmed by Poco or Xiaomi.

Hardware information is also limited. The X8s is rumored to feature a 50MP primary camera, with camera software offering 0.6x, 1x, and 2.5x zoom options. It is not known whether the 2.5x setting will use a dedicated telephoto camera or rely on a crop from the main sensor.

Performance could improve over the Poco X8

A Geekbench result associated with model number 2609CPC5FG reportedly lists Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, 12GB of RAM, and Android 16. If accurate, that would give the X8s a performance advantage over the standard Poco X8, which uses the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4.

The certification and benchmark listing suggest that the X8s could be nearing its launch window, but they do not establish its final configuration. Poco has yet to confirm the phone’s existence, release date, regional availability, or price.
