Oppo may be preparing an unusually wide-screen smartphone with a traditional 16:9 display, according to a new claim from tipster Digital Chat Station. The rumored device, which may be called the Reno X, could also feature slim bezels and a body roughly 85mm wide.
The reported design would stand apart from most current smartphones. Modern phones generally use taller display formats such as 19.5:9 or 20:9, while a 16:9 panel would produce a noticeably wider shape. Oppo has not announced the device or confirmed its specifications.
Rumored Oppo phone dimensions
Digital Chat Station said the display could measure approximately 81mm across, with bezels of about 1mm on each side. The phone itself is expected to be around 85mm wide, leaving a small amount of space beyond the visible screen.
The latest leak points to a screen size of about 6.5 inches. That differs from an earlier claim by the same tipster, which suggested a display between 6.3 and 6.4 inches using a 16:10 aspect ratio. The newer information instead describes a larger panel with a 16:9 format.
Those measurements suggest a phone that would be substantially broader than typical slab-style smartphones, even if its display diagonal remained close to the size found on many current models. The wide layout could offer a different experience for activities that benefit from horizontal screen space, although no software or usability details have been disclosed.
How it may compare with Huawei’s Pura X View
The closest existing comparison is Huawei’s Pura X View, described as the only wide-screen, non-folding smartphone currently available. Huawei’s phone has a 5:3 display and an 87mm-wide body.
Based on the leaked Oppo measurements, the rumored device could be slightly narrower than Huawei’s model while using a somewhat taller overall shape. The two phones would still share the unusual approach of prioritizing a wider screen over the tall aspect ratios common on current smartphones.
Oppo Reno X launch details remain unknown
The leak does not provide a release date, pricing information or other hardware specifications for Oppo’s rumored phone. It also does not confirm whether the Reno X name will be used commercially.
For now, the 16:9 display, 81mm screen width and 85mm body width should be treated as unconfirmed details. Digital Chat Station shared the latest measurements on Weibo, but Oppo has yet to comment on the reported device.
