The rumored OnePlus 16R could bring a significantly upgraded camera system to the company’s R-series lineup. A leak claims the phone is being tested with three 50MP rear cameras, along with a high-refresh-rate display and a battery rated above 7,500mAh.

The information comes from a post on X by tipster Yogesh. According to the leak, the OnePlus 16R has entered the Production Validation Test (PVT) phase, a stage in which manufacturers evaluate hardware close to its intended final configuration. The company has not officially announced the phone or confirmed these specifications.

OnePlus 16R camera specifications

The reported rear camera arrangement includes a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP telephoto camera. If the specification proves accurate, the telephoto lens would be the most notable change compared with the OnePlus 15R, which did not include a dedicated telephoto camera.

A three-camera setup with matching 50MP resolutions could give the OnePlus 16R more flexibility for standard, wide-angle and zoom photography. However, the leak does not provide details about the sensor sizes, optical zoom range, image-processing features or front-facing camera.

165Hz screen and large battery reportedly planned

The same leak claims that the OnePlus 16R will use a display with a 165Hz refresh rate. That would target smoother motion in supported games and interfaces, although the report does not identify the panel technology, resolution or screen size.

Powering the phone is reportedly a battery with a capacity of more than 7,500mAh. The exact capacity and charging specifications remain unknown. A battery of that size could be a key selling point for users who prioritize endurance, but real-world battery life will depend on the display, processor and software.

Possible India launch and chipset

The OnePlus 16 has already launched in China, while an earlier September leak suggested that the flagship might not reach India. In that scenario, the OnePlus 16R could become the company’s alternative R-series offering for the Indian market. There is no confirmed launch date or official regional availability yet.

The phone is reportedly being tested with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The leak also says that a device with the same hardware is being evaluated under Realme branding, suggesting that the two brands could be preparing closely related products. That claim has not been independently confirmed.

The OnePlus 16R is also expected to run ColorOS 17, based on the recently announced version of the software. Until OnePlus releases official information, the camera configuration, processor, battery and market plans should be treated as unconfirmed.
