OnePlus may launch two new flagship smartphones in India, with the OnePlus 16R and possibly the OnePlus 16 reportedly arriving in December or early 2027. The information comes from a post by tipster Gadgetsdata on X, and OnePlus has not officially confirmed the Indian launch plans.

The report follows the planned unveiling of the OnePlus 16 in China on October 12. The Ace 7 could be introduced alongside it or shortly afterward, potentially providing the basis for the OnePlus 16R expected for the Indian market.

OnePlus 16R India launch could follow the Ace 7

The OnePlus 16R is expected to be closely related to the Ace 7. Based on the company’s previous product strategy, the Indian phone could be a rebranded version of the Ace model or share much of its hardware.

Reported specifications point to a 6.78-inch flat OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 185Hz refresh rate. The phone is also expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, although OnePlus has not confirmed those details.

Camera hardware could include a 200MP main sensor and a 50MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. The reported specifications also include a 9,000mAh battery, 100W wired charging, a metal frame and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner built into the display.

Will the OnePlus 16 also come to India?

Gadgetsdata’s post says the second Indian model “might” be the OnePlus 16. That possibility conflicts with a separate rumor from last month, which claimed that OnePlus would not launch the standard model in India.

The conflicting reports mean the final lineup remains unclear. OnePlus could launch both phones, choose only the 16R, or alter the timing between the two devices. The company has not provided an official release date, pricing information or confirmed specifications for either model in India.

What the reported timing means

If the December window is accurate, Indian buyers could receive the new phones relatively soon after their Chinese introductions. The alternative of early 2027 would indicate a longer gap between the initial China launch and availability in India.

For now, the OnePlus 16R appears to be the more consistent part of the report because of its expected connection to the Ace 7. The OnePlus 16’s Indian availability is less certain until OnePlus announces its regional product plans.
