OnePlus is reportedly preparing a substantial hardware upgrade for the OnePlus 16. A leak from Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station claims the phone will feature a 9,000mAh battery, a 200MP main camera and a display capable of reaching 185Hz in select games.
The leak follows OnePlus teasers confirming that the upcoming handset will have a 165Hz global refresh rate screen. OnePlus has not publicly confirmed the full specification list, so the remaining details should be treated as unverified until the company makes a formal announcement.
OnePlus 16 performance and display
According to Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 16 will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. The leaked specifications also claim that the display’s refresh rate can increase to 185Hz in specific games, above the 165Hz rate OnePlus has already teased for global use.
Earlier rumors cited a 6.78-inch panel with a resolution described as “1.5K.” Those details have not been independently confirmed, but they suggest OnePlus is continuing to target a large, high-refresh display for the next model in its flagship series.
Large battery and fast charging
The reported 9,000mAh battery would give the OnePlus 16 a notable capacity increase compared with many current high-end smartphones, although the phone’s real-world endurance will also depend on its display and processor efficiency.
The same leak claims support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. If accurate, that combination would give users both a high-capacity battery and relatively quick charging options. OnePlus has not yet confirmed the charging specifications.
Leaked OnePlus 16 camera specifications
The phone is said to use a triple-camera system on the rear. The claimed setup includes a 200MP primary camera with a 1/1.4-inch-type sensor, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.95-inch-type sensor.
Digital Chat Station also described the handset’s design as “quite stylish,” without providing details about its materials, dimensions or appearance. That leaves the camera hardware as the clearest indication so far of how OnePlus may position the device against other flagship phones.
Software and availability
The OnePlus 16 is expected to run ColorOS 17 based on Android 17 from its first day of availability, according to the leak. The software version and Android release timing will ultimately depend on OnePlus’s launch plans.
For now, the company has only confirmed the 165Hz global refresh rate display through its teasers. The Snapdragon chipset, battery, cameras, charging speeds and 185Hz gaming mode remain reported specifications rather than official product details.
