OnePlus has officially launched the OnePlus 16 in China, pairing a high-refresh-rate OLED display with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, a 200MP main camera and a 9,000mAh battery. The phone is available in three colors and will go on open sale in China on October 31.
The new model is currently positioned as a China-exclusive phone. Pricing starts at CNY 5,999, or about $896, for the version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The highest-end configuration, with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, costs CNY 8,499, or approximately $1,270, according to listings on the OPPO Shop China store.
OnePlus 16 display and performance
The OnePlus 16 uses a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED panel with a resolution of 1,272 by 2,772 pixels. Its headline feature is a 185Hz refresh rate, although the phone runs at up to 165Hz during everyday use. The additional 20Hz is available in supported games.
The display uses BOE’s X4 luminescent material and can reduce its hardware brightness to 1 nit. OnePlus also lists slim 1.15mm bezels and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner among the phone’s display-related features. A 50MP front-facing camera handles selfies.
Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, described as the company’s latest flagship chip in the launch details. Buyers can choose up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, while the entry-level model combines 12GB of RAM with 256GB.
Triple camera system led by a 200MP sensor
The rear camera system is built around a 200MP primary camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor. It is joined by a 50MP telephoto camera offering 3x optical magnification and a 50MP ultrawide camera.
That combination gives the OnePlus 16 a higher-resolution main camera than its two secondary cameras, while the dedicated telephoto unit is designed for closer subjects without relying entirely on digital cropping. The available specifications do not state the phone’s video recording capabilities.
9,000mAh battery and ColorOS 17
Battery capacity is one of the largest upgrades in the OnePlus 16. The phone packs a 9,000mAh battery and supports 100W wired charging as well as 50W wireless charging.
Software support comes from ColorOS 17. The handset will be offered in Starlight, Dark Forest and Martian Masterpiece finishes. OnePlus has not provided additional availability details beyond the Chinese launch information.
