OnePlus has revealed the camera hardware for its upcoming OnePlus 16 flagship, confirming a 200MP main camera alongside two 50MP rear sensors. The phone is scheduled to launch in China soon and will use Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset.

The camera details position the OnePlus 16 as a major upgrade-focused flagship, although OnePlus has not provided a global launch date in the information available. The company has also shared several camera samples captured with the phone.

OnePlus 16 camera specifications

The OnePlus 16 will have a triple-camera system on its rear panel. Its primary camera uses a 200MP sensor measuring 1/1.4 inches, paired with an f/1.6 aperture. That combination gives the main camera a high-resolution sensor and a relatively wide aperture, though real-world image quality will depend on processing as well as the hardware.

The second rear camera is a 50MP periscope telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. A separate 50MP ultrawide camera provides a 116-degree field of view, giving the phone dedicated hardware for wider scenes instead of relying on the main camera.

For selfies and video calls, the handset will include a 50MP front-facing camera. OnePlus also confirmed that the phone will use Oppo’s Lumo imaging engine, which is expected to handle image processing across the camera system. The company’s shared samples offer an early look at the imaging results, but they do not establish how the phone will perform in independent testing.

Design and display features

OnePlus says the OnePlus 16 will be available in three color options. Its design will be similar to that of the OnePlus 15, suggesting continuity between the two generations rather than a complete external redesign.

The new flagship is also confirmed to support a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate. A refresh rate at that level can make compatible interface animations and supported content appear smoother, although the practical benefit will depend on how applications and games use the display.

Battery capacity remains unconfirmed

Recent rumors have suggested that the OnePlus 16 could include a 9,000mAh battery. OnePlus has not confirmed that capacity in the available announcement, so it should be treated as unverified until the company publishes further specifications.

For now, the confirmed details include the 200MP primary camera, 50MP periscope telephoto, 50MP ultrawide, 50MP selfie camera, Lumo imaging engine and 165Hz system-wide refresh support. More information is expected as the China launch approaches.
