Nothing has started the stable rollout of Nothing OS 5.0 to the Nothing Phone (3), bringing the company’s Android 17-based software to users after an open beta that began in late August. The update is being distributed in stages, so its availability can vary depending on the region and device.

Nothing Phone (3) owners can check manually by opening Settings > System > System update. The update may not appear for every eligible phone immediately because the company is using a staggered release.

What Nothing OS 5.0 changes

Nothing OS 5.0 introduces a redesigned launcher and a new Micrographics clock face. Nothing also says the release brings a refreshed visual design with more extensive personalization options.

The software update is also intended to improve performance and enhance Nothing’s Essential AI tools. Alongside Nothing’s own changes, the release includes the broader features delivered with Android 17.

For Phone (3) owners, the update marks the move from the beta program to the general release. Users who did not participate in the beta can now look for the stable software through the system update menu, although the phased rollout means they may need to wait for it to reach their handset.

Nothing OS 5.0 rollout schedule

Nothing has also outlined when other phones are expected to receive the stable release. The next devices in line are the Nothing Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro, which are scheduled for early November.

The Nothing Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus are planned to follow in mid-November. Nothing’s schedule then lists the Phone (3a) Lite for late December.

The Nothing Phone (4b) and CMF Phone 2 Pro are currently expected to receive Nothing OS 5.0 in mid-January. These timings are rollout targets rather than a guarantee that every device will update on the same day, particularly because Nothing says availability can differ by region and device.

How to check for the update

  1. Open the Settings app on the Nothing Phone (3).
  2. Select System.
  3. Tap System update and check for new software.

If Nothing OS 5.0 is not listed yet, the phone may simply not have been included in the current stage of the rollout. Checking again later should reveal the update once it becomes available for that device and region.
