Nothing is expanding its Nothing OS 5.0 open beta to three additional smartphones: the Nothing Phone (4a), Nothing Phone (3a), and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro. The update is based on Android 17 and was previously available for the Nothing Phone (3) and Phone (4a) Pro.
The latest rollout gives more Nothing owners an early look at the company’s next major software release. Because this is an open beta, participants should expect pre-release software rather than the final stable experience.
How to join the Nothing OS 5.0 beta
Nothing’s registration process uses the Nothing Beta Hub app. Users must first download and install the latest Nothing Beta Hub APK, then open the relevant option through Settings > System > Nothing Beta Hub.
Inside the app, users should tap Check version, followed by Join Beta, to register for the program. Once registration is complete, Nothing says the beta build should arrive as an over-the-air update within a few minutes.
The same general process applies to the newly supported phones. Anyone considering the beta should remember that it is not the final release and may not offer the same stability as the production software.
Nothing OS 5.0 beta and stable release schedule
Nothing has also outlined when other devices will join the testing program. The Nothing Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus are scheduled to receive an open beta in mid-October, while the Phone (4b) is expected to follow in mid-December.
The stable rollout will take place in stages:
- Mid-October: Nothing Phone (3)
- Early November: Nothing Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Pro
- Mid-November: Nothing Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus
- Mid-December: Nothing Phone (3a) Lite
- Mid-January: Nothing Phone (4b) and CMF Phone 2 Pro
What to expect from Nothing OS 5.0
Nothing has published an official changelog explaining the new features in Nothing OS 5.0. The open beta rollout allows owners of supported phones to review those changes before the company delivers the stable version.
The staggered schedule means the final release will not arrive on every eligible device at once. Owners of the Phone (3) are first in line for the stable software, while several other models are scheduled to receive it over the following months.
