Motorola will unveil its next flagship smartphone, the Signature 27, on September 22. The announcement follows several teasers from the company and places the new phone’s debut on the same day Qualcomm is expected to introduce its next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chipsets.

Motorola confirmed the date in a post on X that directly references Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit. The event is scheduled to take place in Hawaii, and the timing strongly suggests that the Signature 27 will use one of the processors Qualcomm is expected to announce there.

Signature 27 launch date and Snapdragon connection

Qualcomm is expected to reveal the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro during the Snapdragon Summit. Motorola has not identified which chipset will power the Signature 27, but its decision to highlight the summit points to a close connection between the phone and Qualcomm’s new flagship platform.

Motorola could present the Signature 27 on stage during Qualcomm’s event. However, the company has not clarified whether September 22 will bring a complete product launch or a first look followed by more details later. Buyers will therefore need to wait for the event to learn the phone’s full specifications, availability and pricing.

Motorola Signature 27 colors and materials

The teasers confirm at least two finishes for the upcoming phone: Pantone Coal Smoke and Pantone Capulet Olive. Motorola is also hinting that the device will use distinctive materials, although it has not yet explained what those materials are or how they will differ from the construction of the current model.

The color names continue Motorola’s use of Pantone branding for its smartphone finishes. Beyond the confirmed colors and materials tease, the company has not disclosed additional hardware details for the Signature 27.

What to expect from Motorola’s next flagship

The Signature 27 will follow Motorola’s current Signature flagship, which launched in January. Its appearance alongside Qualcomm’s new mobile processors would give Motorola an early opportunity to position the phone around the latest high-end silicon, assuming the expected Snapdragon announcements take place as planned.

Motorola’s September 22 presentation should settle the most important remaining questions, including whether the Signature 27 receives a full unveiling at the summit, which Snapdragon chip it uses and when customers can buy it. Until then, the confirmed colors and the Snapdragon connection are the main details available about the new handset.
