Motorola is expanding its Qira personal AI assistant to more smartphones through the Android 17 update. The rollout will cover devices in Motorola’s Signature, Razr, and Edge series, extending Qira beyond its initial availability on the Edge 70 Max.

Qira was introduced by Motorola and parent company Lenovo as a shared assistant for their device ecosystems. Motorola describes it as a single AI experience designed to work across both brands, allowing users to carry relevant context between compatible Motorola and Lenovo products.

Which Motorola phones will get Qira?

Motorola has not listed every eligible model in its announcement. It has confirmed that Qira will be made available to phones in the Signature, Razr, and Edge families when they receive the Android 17 update.

The assistant has already been available on some Lenovo devices and made its Motorola debut with the Edge 70 Max. Expanding it through a major Android update gives the company a way to bring the same assistant experience to a broader group of smartphones without limiting it to a single new model.

What can Motorola Qira do?

Qira supports both voice and text interactions, and users can also provide photos and videos. Motorola says it can help with a range of tasks, support content creation for work and entertainment, and provide conversational assistance.

  • Transcribe and summarize conversations
  • Suggest actions and set reminders
  • Create images, stickers, and avatars
  • Generate wallpapers from photographed patterns
  • Summarize notifications
  • Complete tasks on a user’s behalf

The feature set places Qira alongside other phone-based assistants that combine conversational requests with actions performed on the device. Its cross-device focus is the main distinction Motorola highlights, rather than treating the assistant as a feature tied to one handset.

How Qira works across Motorola and Lenovo devices

Motorola says Qira can retain relevant context when users switch between compatible Lenovo and Motorola products. That could make the assistant more useful for people who use devices from both companies, since conversations and tasks do not necessarily have to begin again when moving from one device to another.

The Android 17 rollout will determine when individual supported phones receive Qira. Motorola’s announcement confirms the supported product families but does not provide a device-by-device schedule or a specific release date for the update. Owners will therefore need to wait for further rollout details from Motorola.
